A-listers from across the globe made their way up those famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in their exquisite dresses. This included co-chairs, Rihanna, Amal Clooney, Donatella Versace and Anna Wintour. They were welcomed by rarely seen artifacts from the Vatican and a show stopping performance by Madonna. A fitting choice by Vogue since this year's Met Gala theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.“
L'Oréal Paris is creating a talk show around women's empowerment at the Cannes Film Festival next month. The brand, which has been a partner to the festival for 21 years, will broadcast "The worth it show" live from the beach. The seven shows are available for festival-goers and the public.

In post-revolutionary Mexico, the surrealist artist celebrated indigenous heritage through her paintings – mostly self portraits – at a time when the country’s national identity was fragmented. Kahlo placed her own identities – disabled, gender-bending, bisexual, woman, and communist – front and center in her autobiographical pieces. In the decades since, her works have made her a feminist and LGBTQ icon. She’s now recognized as one of Mexico’s greatest artists and cultural icons.

Expressing yourself through sculpture is just like any other kind of art form. The only difference is that sculpting is a 3D dimensional art form compared to the likes of painting or drawing. In addition, there is an architectural element to sculpting which makes me appreciate the process and final product even more. When I first learned about Barbara Nanning I was immediately inspired with how she was able to perfect the craft of combining tradition and innovation.
It is easy to assume that people who work in the creative industry have an easy time getting inspired. The truth is that the majority of us understand that creativity requires some kind of spark of light or an ah-ha moment that gets us excited. And, when we get excited, we get productive (and may I even say provocative?). It is that simple. Being provocative is a balance between relatable, even identifiable, but with a later of edge and suggestion.
