Pride & Compassion
Today is the one year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy that took the lives of 49 beautiful souls. My team at Bar Napkin Productions (bnp-llc.com) will be honoring them in our own special way. I send my deepest condolences to the victim's families and friends. My heart breaks for each of them. I cannot imagine what they are going through, but I promised myself to honor their loved ones but taking action. #HonorThemWithAction
My team is currently in the process of joining forces with one of our local LGBTQ youth organizations. I am excited to share with you what we we have brewing.
The month of June also celebrates Pride! The majority of Pride events are held in June to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City on June 28, 1969, which most historians consider to be the birth of the modern LGBT movement. At the time, police raids on bars catering to LGBT patrons were common, but that night, the patrons of the Stonewall Inn fought back. While historical accounts of the night vary, the violent response ignited a national firestorm of activism that brought new visibility to the struggle for LGBT equality.
I have been a supporter of gay rights for a very long time. It is my duty to make sure my dearest friends feel loved and protected. They will always have me as a freedom fighter in the corner!
Let's make sure we always honor the Pulse victims and continue to give support to the LGBTQ community.
