The Proust Questionnaire has its origins in a parlor game popularized (though not devised) by Marcel Proust, the French essayist and novelist, who believed that, in answering these questions, an individual reveals his or her true nature. You can find this famous questionnaire in the back pages of Vanity Fair. It has served its purpose in getting to know some of the world’s most significant personalities.
So, I thought I would do my best in answering the majority of these famous questions. For those of you that have known me for years, maybe you will learn something new. And, for those of you visiting H-A-L-E.com for the first time, I hope you challenge yourself to answer these questions yourself.
1.) What is your idea of perfect happiness? A sunset on the beach with the people I love the most.
2.) What is your greatest fear? Failure / Singing in Public
3.) What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? Impatience / expectation for perfection
4.) What is the trait you most deplore in others? Lack of empathy
5.) Which living person do you most admire? There are too many - I admire different people for different things
6.) What is your greatest extravagance? Time
7.) What is your current state of mind? Happy but motivated (aka pushing) for more
8.) What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Contentment (Most underrated - listening)
9.) On what occasion do you lie? Only in a moment of absolute loyalty to a person or situation with the best of intentions of goodness (but I am terrible at it - terrible poker face)
10.) What is the quality you most like in a man? A good laugh, smile and ability to laugh at yourself
11.) What is the quality you most like in a woman? Strength, directness and of course the stuff above listed for a man
12.) Which words or phrases do you most overuse? So many!!!! "Precisely," "Phenomenal," "I'd like a glass of red wine..."
13.) What or who is the greatest love of your life? Life itself
14.) Where would you most like to live? Part time between Florence, Italy, Paris, Phoenix and a warm Beach
15.) What is your most treasured possession? My spirit
16.) What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Suffering great loss / Lack of control
17.) What is your most marked characteristic? Hmm.... probably better for someone to answer - I'm a good and loyal friend though
18.) What do you most value in your friends? Honesty, Intelligence and Humor
19.) What is your greatest regret? There have been a few, but they all usually boil down to - not following my gut.
19) How would you like to die? Quickly without even knowing it happened
