The People's Princess

Twenty years after her death we miss her more than ever. Diana was always a rebel, which is one of the reasons I admired her greatly. She has been memorialized in our hearts forever as the People’s Princess. But first and foremost, Diana was a woman with a unique strength and a level of compassion that the world has never seen before. She constantly used her position to break taboos and bring the spotlight where it was needed most.

Sadly, at six minutes past midnight on Aug. 31, 1997, we lost this beautiful woman in a tragic car accident.

Diana will always be acknowledge as one of the world's most significant humanitarians.

Let us all take a moment today and honor her.

X,

Coppola For The Win

Following a big win at the Cannes Film Festival, Sofia Coppola has just joined a very exclusive club. This past Sunday, Coppola picked up the best director prize at the French film festival, becoming only the second female director to do so in the event's 70-year history. Coppola was honored for directing her film "The Beguiled," a thriller starring Nicole Kidman as a woman who runs a Southern girls' boarding school during the Civil War.

With Mother's Day on the horizon I wanted to highlight a particular mom who is in the public eye that deserves a little shout out. Can we take our women hats off to the one and only, Victoria Beckham. A mom, a wife, designer, performer, and an entrepreneur who has gone above and beyond in making a name for herself as well as reinventing her name.

Universal just announced they are developing a Madonna biopic called, “Blonde Ambition!” The script is by Elyse Hollander which details Madonna’s efforts in the early 1980s in New York City to get her first album released while navigating fame, romance, and the dismissive attitude of the music industry at the time. As we all know, Madonna broke out in 1983 on her first album, “Madonna,” followed by 1984’s blockbuster “Like a Virgin.”

Strong Like Steinem

Strong Like Steinem

I've been doing a lot of thinking about women in my industry. Perhaps, it has something to do with the recent meetings I've been in, and the fact I was the only woman in the room. Is this something new? Not really. My female peers usually encounter the same kind vibe. Being an entrepreneur has its own challenges, but being a female entrepreneur, a boss, and owner - is a whole other nugget.

La La Land Ladies

La La Land Ladies

Los Angeles has a pretty specific reputation. You either love it or you hate. The City of Angels is not for everybody. However, I will say it is the place to go if you are a doer, dreamer, risk taker, and the type of person looking to challenge themselves. In the world of design, fashion, and architecture, La La Land has been known to be one of the most prominenent places in the country for opportunity and a chance to shine. Below are a few extremely talented female architects who have made their mark in a town that is filled with competition and hurdles. Bravo to them and to any person in the creative world who is in the process of carving out their dreams (especially in Los Angeles!).
