Did you know that women are more likely to create socially, environmentally and culturally conscious businesses? Last year was a tough one for women. It seemed like we were on the verge of electing a woman as the most powerful person on the planet. Of course that's not the way it worked out. Hillary Clinton’s stunning loss in the 2016 U.S. presidential election left many women feeling untethered. But, that is not to say that other strong women have not stepped up from such a major set back. Forbes Magazine just launched its 100 World's Most Powerful Women list. I must say - it is filled with some amazing ladies. Below, are just some of my top faves that stood out in the business (and creative!) world.

HBO's Big Little Lies won the Emmy for best limited series on Sunday night. I was incredibly excited since I read the book years ago and passed it on to all my friends. Stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman spoke on behalf of the cast and crew of the series, dedicating the show's win to the empowerment of women.
This was a royal Labor Day as it was shared with the Queen B's birthday. The 36 year old songstress showcased a series of photos of her friends and family dressed as her plantation owner character in the video Formation. The likes of former First Lady Michelle Obama, tennis ace Serena Willams and her daughter, Blue Ivy paid homage to Queen B on her special day.
Twenty years after her death we miss her more than ever. Diana was always a rebel, which is one of the reasons I admired her greatly. She has been memorialized in our hearts forever as the People’s Princess. But first and foremost, Diana was a woman with a unique strength and a level of compassion that the world has never seen before. She constantly used her position to break taboos and bring the spotlight where it was needed most.
Following a big win at the Cannes Film Festival, Sofia Coppola has just joined a very exclusive club. This past Sunday, Coppola picked up the best director prize at the French film festival, becoming only the second female director to do so in the event's 70-year history. Coppola was honored for directing her film "The Beguiled," a thriller starring Nicole Kidman as a woman who runs a Southern girls' boarding school during the Civil War.
With Mother's Day on the horizon I wanted to highlight a particular mom who is in the public eye that deserves a little shout out. Can we take our women hats off to the one and only, Victoria Beckham. A mom, a wife, designer, performer, and an entrepreneur who has gone above and beyond in making a name for herself as well as reinventing her name.
Universal just announced they are developing a Madonna biopic called, “Blonde Ambition!” The script is by Elyse Hollander which details Madonna’s efforts in the early 1980s in New York City to get her first album released while navigating fame, romance, and the dismissive attitude of the music industry at the time. As we all know, Madonna broke out in 1983 on her first album, “Madonna,” followed by 1984’s blockbuster “Like a Virgin.”
