Will you be in the Big Apple this month?
If so, I encourage you to stop by New York's David Lewis Gallery where they will be featuring the work of Mary Beth Edelson. Who is Mary Beth Edelson you ask?
Well, she is an American artist and a significant pioneer in the feminist art movement. Some have even deemed Edelson to be one of the "first generation feminist artists."
I instantly fell in awe after learning about her personal journey and how she used her art to make a statement (a bold statement at that!).
Edelson is most well known for her goddess metaphors and mindful paintings, photographs, and murals. Her work has been shown at museums across the country such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
This month, the David Lewis Galley will be the first to focus on Edelson's seminal 1973 series of hand-painted silver gelatin prints Woman Rising.
